Job summary

Apple Inc. in Cupertino, California, is seeking a Laser Engineer to lead laser component development for Face ID and LIDAR applications. You will transform design concepts into mass‑production ready laser devices and collaborate across internal teams and with external vendors.

This role requires a strong background in physics or electrical engineering, experience with epitaxy of III‑V devices, and hands‑on data analysis, process integration, and problem solving in a cross‑functional environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in physics, electrical engineering, or a similar discipline.
• Experience in epitaxy (EPI) processes.
• Experience working on several projects transferred from engineering development phase to high-volume production.

Responsibilities

• Design next-gen laser components and define Engineering Requirement Specs (ERS). Establish spec correlation between laser components and module/system levels.
• Collaborate with laser component vendors to design robust process integration flow and key steps for next‑gen laser products.
• Improve device performance and yield during engineering development phase with internal and external teams.
• Lead efforts to solve reliability and performance issues observed on module/system level during development.
• Review laser device yield and performance data and provide approvals for engineering samples.
• Provide regular updates to internal cross-functional teams about performance, yield and MP readiness during development.
• Drive vendors to develop key process technologies beneficial to Apple’s laser roadmap.
• Explore and develop new laser device technologies with internal teams and external vendors.
