Job summary

Kids for the Future in Lynchburg, VA is seeking an LT8 Laser Operator to operate and program lasers, read blueprints, set up machinery, and ensure parts meet exact specifications during shifts.

Applicants should have at least 2 years of CNC laser experience, strong blueprint reading, GD&T, and precision measurement skills, plus the ability to lift up to 75 lbs. This is a full-time, non-exempt role offering $17.00–$21.00 per hour.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years operating and programming CNC lasers.
  • Ability to read blueprints and GD&T to guide machining.
  • Proficiency with precision measuring tools and hand tools.
  • Must pass ACS forklift safety training and license.

Responsibilities

  • Machining Operations: Power on, set up, program, operate, and troubleshoot lasers.
  • Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints and drawings.
  • Precision Measurement: Use calipers, micrometers, and GD&T as needed.
  • Tooling and Maintenance: Maintain nozzles, thicknesses, and machine condition; perform light maintenance.
  • Parts Handling: Load/unload materials; ensure parts meet specifications; lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Team Collaboration: Work with team members to keep the machine shop organized.
  • Process Adherence: Follow processes, quality specs, and safety regulations.
  • Specialty Skills: Experience with laser programming/NCELL.
