Job summary

Kids for the Future is seeking a CNC Laser Operator in Lynchburg, VA to operate and program CNC lasers, read blueprints, and ensure parts meet specifications. The role requires safety-conscious machining and the ability to lift up to 75 lbs.

The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of CNC laser experience, strong GD&T and measurement skills, and is proficient with tooling and maintenance. High school diploma or equivalent is required; machining certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience operating and programming CNC lasers.
• Proficiency in blueprint reading, GD&T, and use of precision measuring tools.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or training in machining preferred.

Responsibilities

• Machining operations: power on, set up, program, operate, and troubleshoot CNC lasers.
• Blueprint interpretation to guide machining operations.
• Precision measurement using calipers, micrometers, and GD&T as needed.
• Tooling and maintenance: select, use, and service nozzles and tooling; perform routine cleaning.
• Parts handling: load/unload materials; lift up to 75 lbs.
• Team collaboration to maintain a clean, organized machine shop.
• Follow manufacturing processes and quality policies.
• Specialty skills: experience with laser programming/NCELL.
