Job summary

Speedwell Machine in Clover/Gastonia, NC, is seeking an experienced Laser Operator/Programmer to join our manufacturing team. This role programs, sets up, and operates CNC laser cutting equipment to produce precision metal components.

The ideal candidate will read blueprints, create and modify CNC programs, and ensure parts meet quality specs. We offer a four-day work week and competitive pay commensurate with experience.

Qualifications

  • Experience operating and programming CNC laser cutting equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Experience with CNC programming software and machine controls.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and tape measures.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

  • Program, set up, and operate CNC laser cutting machines.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work orders.
  • Create, edit, and optimize CNC programs for efficient production.
  • Select proper materials, tooling, and machine settings for each job.
  • Perform machine setups and changeovers to support production schedules.
  • Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments to ensure quality and dimensional accuracy.
  • Troubleshoot programming and machine issues to minimize downtime.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and report equipment concerns.
  • Maintain accurate production records and documentation.
  • Follow all company safety policies and maintain a clean, organized work area.
  • Work with production and engineering teams to improve manufacturing processes and efficiency.
