Job summary

Messer Cutting Systems in Wisconsin is seeking an Application Support Engineer to provide technical and functional support for our software applications through phone support, and in-person & remote customer training.

You will deliver remote, in-house, and on-site training on machine operation, process optimization, and CAD/CAM programming software, with travel averaging 25% and potential for higher levels as needed.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience with laser cutting machinery
• Experience cleaning and changing laser cutting heads
• Database/Parameter development
• Advanced understanding of G&M code

Responsibilities

• Provide remote, in-house, and on-site training and support on laser cutting machinery software
• Travel averaging 25% with potential for higher levels as needed
• Collaborate cross-functionally to develop new product lines prior to launching
• Manage enhancement and bug fix lists and test software after changes and upgrades
• Database development (laser-focused)
• Effectively communicate during extensive interaction with customers
• Develop knowledge base articles and other training materials
• Conduct equipment, software demonstrations and presentations to prospective customers
• Work closely with other departments to ensure products are delivered on time and meet customer requirements
• Participate in continuous improvement projects and proactively maintain relationships
• Support a global network by communication across geographic and cultural differences
• Attend trade shows to represent the company and products

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide remote, in-house, and on-site customer training and support on machine operation, process optimization, and CAD/CAM programming software
• Delivering remote, in-house, and on-site training to customers requires an average of 25% travel, with the potential for higher levels as needed
• Collaborate cross-functionally to develop new product lines prior to launching
• Manage enhancement and bug fix lists and test software after changes and upgrades
• Database development (Laser focused)
• Effectively communicate during extensive interaction with customers
• Develop knowledge base articles and other training materials
• Conduct equipment, software demonstrations and presentations to prospective customers
• Work closely with other departments to ensure products are delivered on time and meet all customer requirements
• Participate in continuous improvement projects and proactively maintain collaborative relationships
• Support a global network by effective communication skills across geographic, cultural, cross-functional, and organizational differences

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Associate’s Degree in related field preferred
• 3 or more years of experience with laser cutting machinery preferred
• Experience cleaning and changing laser cutting heads
• Database/Parameter development
• Advanced understanding of G&M code

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• AutoCAD or SOLIDWORKS experience preferred
• Knowledge of CNC equipment preferred
• Knowledge of material handling systems preferred
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to work collaboratively and independently, with good organizational skills and the flexibility and adaptability to work on multiple projects with exceptional attention to detail
• Strong communication and presentation skills required
• Self-starter with determination for completing tasks
• A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation is required
