Job summary

HSG Laser US is seeking an Applications Engineer to provide technical expertise, process development, and customer support for industrial laser systems. The role bridges engineering, sales, and service by demonstrating capabilities, optimizing cutting parameters, and ensuring customers derive maximum value from laser equipment.

The candidate will develop and document cutting processes, offer on-site and remote training, and assist in product development by linking customer insights with R&D.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering or related field; equivalent experience considered.
• 5+ years in laser processing, CNC machinery, or precision metal fabrication.
• Hands-on fiber laser experience preferred.
• Knowledge of motion controls, optics, and materials science a plus.
• CAD/CAM software proficiency required.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize laser cutting parameters for metals at various thicknesses.
• Demonstrate machine capabilities and conduct trials for prospective customers.
• Troubleshoot cutting quality and process issues.
• Provide on-site and remote training on machine operation, maintenance, and optimization.
• Create and maintain cutting process databases, application notes, and best practice guides.
• Support installation and commissioning at customer sites as needed.
• Prepare technical docs, cutting samples, and reports for presentations.
• Assist in product development from customer insights to R&D.
