Job summary

TRUMPF Inc. invites college students to join our Laser Application Center in Plymouth, MI for a hands-on internship in fast-developing laser and manufacturing industries.

You will learn to program and operate industrial lasers for feasibility studies, assist engineers, and gain exposure to design of experiments, CAD, and TRUMPF software in a collaborative setting.

This onsite program runs January 2027 through August 2027, with at least 24 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a 4-year college or university with concentration in Engineering, Physics or related field.
• Analytical thinking and ability to work in a structured manner.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
• CAD experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist laser application engineers with tasks related to laser cutting and welding.
• Support day-to-day operations of the Laser Application Center.
• Prepare for customer visits and participate in design of experiments in laser processing.
• Maintain equipment and reference materials; collaborate with engineers and technicians.
• Use TRUMPF software (e.g., VisionLine Detect) and assist in project documentation.
