Job summary

BWX Technologies, Inc. in Barberton, OH is seeking a CNC VMC Operator to set up and run large machining centers with precision and adherence to standards.

Responsibilities include editing and writing small programs, verifying tools, inspecting parts with precision instruments, and maintaining documentation. The role requires a high school diploma, 2 years of relevant experience, US citizenship, and ability to work all shifts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalency required.
• Two (2) years of relevant precision machining experience on large machines preferred.
• US Citizen required.
• Must be open to all shifts.
• Proficient with CNC controls including G and M code commands.
• Able to edit or modify programs; write minor programs.
• Working knowledge of feeds and speeds for all materials.
• Able to hold tolerances to .000" and perform microfinish when needed.
• Able to read and interpret ANSI Y14.5 GD&T.
• Able to use dial bore gages, snap gages, verniers, and micrometers.
• Maintain accurate documentation and follow procedures; pass pre-employment checks.

Responsibilities

• Perform multi-axis machining with high precision on large machines and fixtures.
• Work with programmer to develop and test run programs; proofread and flag issues.
• Position and secure workpieces and fixtures on the table.
• Verify tools are correct and match program calls; assemble tooling as required.
• Collaborate with tooling engineers to optimize tooling design and practices.
• Assist crane operator with rigging and moving parts to/from the machine.
• Conduct final inspections using probing and precision instruments.
• Maintain clean work area and complete production records.
