Job summary

Piworld is seeking a Lead Pressman for our Oak Lawn, IL facility. In this full‑time role you will set up and operate lithographic presses, monitor quality, and maintain production records to meet SOPs and reporting standards.

You will troubleshoot equipment, perform tests, and communicate goals and quality requirements clearly to the crew, ensuring efficient, defect‑free runs on nights or planned shifts.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of lithographic printing experience or equivalent machinery operation.
• Experience with Komori or Heidelberg offset presses.
• Familiarity with quality control systems and SOPs.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to follow supervision and communicate expectations.
• Attention to detail and concentration for long shifts.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate printing presses according to SOPs and work instructions.
• Monitor production efficiency and print quality with accurate documentation.
• Troubleshoot equipment, perform testing, and implement corrective actions.
• Identify issues and communicate with downstream operators to reduce waste.
• Perform routine cleaning and maintenance per SOPs.
• Maintain productivity and meet press setup times and speeds.

Job description

Lead Pressman

Location: Oak Lawn, IL
Pay Rate: $27–$40 per hour
Shift: 12-hour night shift
Employment Type: Direct Hire

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate printing presses in accordance with standard operating procedures, work instructions, and control riders.
• Monitor production efficiency and print quality while ensuring all required documentation and production reports are completed accurately.
• Troubleshoot equipment and setup issues, perform necessary testing, and implement corrective actions to achieve quality standards.
• Identify production issues promptly and communicate effectively with downstream operators to minimize waste, defects, and remakes.
• Perform routine cleaning and maintenance tasks in accordance with established SOPs.
• Maintain consistent productivity levels while meeting departmental expectations for press setup times and production speeds.
• Follow established quality control procedures and maintain accurate production records.
• Communicate production goals, performance expectations, and quality requirements clearly to team members.

Qualifications and Experience

• Preferably 3+ years of lithographic printing experience or comparable experience operating technical machinery.
• Experience with Komori or Heidelberg offset presses is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with quality control systems, production documentation, and standard operating procedures.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to understand production goals, follow supervisory direction, and communicate expectations effectively to the crew.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain concentration for extended periods.
