Summary
The Large Group Curriculum Developer works to advance the ministry of Awana by developing and creating large group content for Brite Curriculum and other resources for churches to use with children ages birth – age 12 and their leaders. This role is responsible for delivering assigned projects that are complete, biblically accurate, engaging to kids, and within the specifications provided by the Brite Lead Developer. This role will work cross-functionally and with freelancers in the development of the curriculum.
This position is primarily remote with occasional travel required based on strategic organizational meetings, promotion, training, or resource creation. Primary travel locations would be our offices in St. Charles, IL or Nashville, TN and various other cities as needed.
Hiring Range for this position is: $50,000 to $55,000 annually

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and write content related to large group curriculum, including engaging large group experiences for Brite curriculum.
- Assist in collaboration and development of other large group curriculum projects as needed.
- Ensure that all content is on-brand, aligned with Awana’s Statement of Faith, and consistent in terms of style, quality, tone of voice, and optimized for the Awana audience.
- Participate in ongoing and new product development, maintenance, and assessment as needed.
Media Production
- Develop video content, slides, and other media for Brite elementary and Brite preschool.
- Work with production partners, creative, and curriculum teams to develop video content that is on-brand, consistent in style, quality, and tone of voice, and optimized for the Awana audience.
Collaboration and Coordination
- Collaborate with freelancers and production partners contributing to assigned curriculum projects.
- Coordinate freelancers and production partners, providing key details, timelines, and information needed to complete their assignments.
- Facilitate and lead check-in meetings with freelancers and production partners as needed.
- Ensure that work delivered by freelancers and production partners meets Awana’s required specifications.
Organizational Support and Culture
- Assist in uploading and organizing related curriculum files as needed.
- Actively collaborate in the ideation, development, improvement, and promotion of curriculum.
- Contribute to a culture of integrated workflow and information sharing.
- Contribute to and influence cross-functional connections within the Awana ministry.
- Support, uphold, and demonstrate Awana’s cultural values in internal and external communications and relationships.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What You Need:
- Minimum 5+ years related experience in children’s ministry large group environments required.
- Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) with a concentration in Children’s Ministry, Education, Child Development, or related field desired.
- Thorough understanding of children’s ministry, large experience including large group games, teaching from stage, interacting with video/slides, and keeping kids engaged is preferred.
- Working knowledge of video production, WordPress, and graphic design would be a bonus.
- Working knowledge of the Bible from an orthodox evangelical point of view required.
- Excellent instructional-design writing skills required.
- Familiarity with the US Church landscape, specifically children’s ministry large group experiences and relevant children’s culture.
- Occasional local and out-of-town, overnight travel may be required.
- Experience with Awana Club, curriculum, resources, & solutions is a plus!
- Eligibility to work in the United States is required; this position is not eligible for employment visa sponsorship.
Spiritual Life
Must be a born-again Christian. Must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Must be in agreement with the Awana Doctrinal Statement. Must be in fellowship with the body of Christ through a local church. Regularly engages in reading the Holy Bible as a guide and standard for living.
Physical Demands/Working Conditions
While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to communicate. The team member is also required to regularly utilize computer equipment (e.g., screens and keyboards) to perform work. Awana recommends maintaining ergonomic posture, utilizing properly positioned computer equipment to minimize strain, and taking regular breaks to stretch and move around. Specific vision abilities required by this job included close vision.
