Job summary

The Assistant Manager, Language Services role sits within the MOIA of the NYC Mayor’s Office, focusing on reliable access to translation and interpretation for city agencies and the public. You will manage translation projects end-to-end, coordinate interpretation requests, and support multilingual communications across MOIA materials and website content.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required with 2 years of experience in community work or related duties.
• HS diploma with six years of experience in community work or related duties may be substituted.
• Experience in language services or fast-paced coordination is preferred.
• Native fluency in one of the top 10 city-designated languages (Arabic, Bangla, Chinese, French, Haitian Creole, Korean, Polish, Russian, Spanish, or Urdu).

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end translation projects, from intake to delivery, including MOIA website content using Smartling.
• Coordinate interpretation requests and provide support for virtual interpretation events.
• Liaise with city clients, partners, and vendors to ensure smooth project execution.
• Provide after-hours backup support and handle urgent translation/interpreting needs when required.
