Job summary

Dowagiac Middle School is seeking a Language Arts At Risk ParaProfessional for 28 hours per week to support targeted student groups. The role emphasizes organization, teamwork, and hands-on assistance with curriculum under NCLB guidelines.

The ideal candidate will collaborate with teachers, manage small groups, and adapt to daily scheduling while promoting access to Language Arts, Math, Social Studies and Science across diverse student populations.

• Must meet requirements of NCLB (Highly Qualified).
• High organizational skills.
• Ability to work as a member of a team.
• Ability to effectively manage groups of students.

Responsibilities

• Work with small groups of students in targeted areas of curriculum.
• Highly motivated and follows through with assigned tasks thoroughly.
• Willingness to be flexible and adaptable with daily schedule.
• Knowledge of Language Arts, Math, Social Studies and Science.
• Ability to work effectively with a diverse cultural, racial and socio-economic student population.
• General computer skills (e.g. word process, create spreadsheets, the ability to find information on the Internet).
• General knowledge and experience using Google Suite and MS Office products.
• Classroom experience preferred.
• Strong willingness to attend specific training(s) to meet the needs of this position.
• Knowledge of NWEA Assessment administration or willingness to be trained.
