The Landscape Operations department within Facilities and Business Operations is seeking a Landscaper I to support the maintenance and appearance of campus grounds. This role is responsible for a variety of landscape maintenance tasks, with responsibilities subject to change based on operational needs.
Perform landscape maintenance duties including mowing, edging, trimming, pruning, mulching, and hand weeding of landscape beds in assigned zones.
Operates hand tools and landscaping equipment as needed.
Identifies and reports pest or disease issues in accordance with the Integrated Pest Management (IPM) plan.
Support general campus upkeep, including raking, trash collection and removal, and other related activities.
Assist with special tasks such as hauling fill dirt and debris, and watering trees and turf in non‑irrigated areas.
Perform basic equipment maintenance, including cleaning, lubricating, and checking fluid levels; report equipment repair needs to the supervisor.
Completion of 9th grade or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).
1+ years of experience in landscape maintenance, preferably in a commercial, institutional, or campus setting.
The ability to maintain landscapes to departmental standards and use landscaping hand‑held tools and equipment.
Basic plant identification, pruning techniques, and general IPM knowledge.
Basic communication skills in English in order to: work effectively with customers; operate and demonstrate the functions of the electronic equipment; utilize telecommunication devices.
Proper maintenance of equipment: Cleaning, preserving finishes, checking fluid levels, and lubricating.
Basic computer skills, including email.
Ability to work in extreme environments and collaborate with individuals from varied backgrounds and experiences.
UCF policy requires completion and passing of a physical exam for this position.
