Melwood Horticultural Training Center Inc. in Greenbelt, Maryland is seeking a Mower Tractor Operator to join our grounds team.

The position offers full-time hours and an hourly rate of $21.00 with a comprehensive benefits package and employer-paid health coverage. The role requires mowing and tractor operation, with duties including lime and pesticide application, large-scale mowing, and routine tractor maintenance.

Qualifications

• One to two years tractor experience, preferably grounds-related.
• Prior experience with individuals with disabilities and/or supervisory experience desired.
• One or two years' general landscape experience with some familiarity with pesticides is desirable.
• Must have a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Uses full-size tractors, including front-end loader, riding mowers, and broadcast spreaders.
• Using a tractor-mounted skid steer spreader, applies lime, fertilizer, grass seed, herbicides, and pesticides.
• Performs large-scale mowing of the assigned work areas.
• Reports any abnormalities in trees, shrubs, and grass.
• Performs basic maintenance and cleaning of all tractors and attachments.
• Reports any repairs/maintenance needed for tractors.
• Plows snow as needed.
• Follows all safety procedures.
• Maintains lawn in conformance to the specifications of the contract.
• Performs other landscape-related tasks as needed.
