Job summary

Melwood is seeking a Mower Tractor Operator to support grounds maintenance at Greenbelt, MD. This full-time role requires operating tractors, spreaders, and mowers to meet contract specifications and maintain landscapes outdoors.

Applicants should have 1–2 years of tractor experience, some supervisory exposure, and familiarity with pesticides. A clean driving record is required, and the position includes an employer-paid health care contribution and benefits.

Qualifications

• One to two years tractor experience, preferably grounds-related.
• Prior experience with individuals with disabilities and/or some supervisory experience desired.
• One or two years' general landscape experience with some familiarity with pesticides is desirable.
• Must have a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Uses full-size tractors, including front-end loader, riding mowers, and broadcast spreaders.
• Using a tractor-mounted skid steer spreader, applies lime, fertilizer, grass seed, herbicides, and pesticides.
• Performs large-scale mowing of the assigned work areas.
• Reports any abnormalities in trees, shrubs, and grass.
• Performs basic maintenance and cleaning of all tractors and attachments.
• Reports any repairs/maintenance needed for tractors.
• Plows snow as needed.
• Follows all safety procedures.
• Maintains lawn in conformance to the specifications of the contract.
• Performs other landscape-related tasks as needed.
