Job description

Wells Lawn Care & Landscaping is looking for an experienced Landscape Project Manager to take ownership of residential landscape and hardscape installation projects from jobsite setup through completion.

This is a field-based, hands-on leadership position for someone who knows landscape construction, understands how to build projects correctly, and is ready to take responsibility for the crew, quality, productivity, and customer experience on their assigned projects.

This is not a desk-only project management position. You'll spend the majority of your time in the field leading projects and working alongside installation crews.

If you've been a Landscape Foreman, Hardscape Foreman, Landscape Construction Supervisor, Lead Installer, or Landscape Project Manager, we'd like to talk with you.

About the Position

As a Landscape Project Manager, you'll be responsible for successfully running landscape and hardscape installation projects from start to finish.

You'll review project plans, organize the work, lead the crew, solve problems in the field, monitor quality and production, communicate with customers, and make sure each project is completed safely, efficiently, and to Wells Lawn Care & Landscaping's standards.

This role is a good fit for an experienced landscape or hardscape professional who is ready to take greater ownership of projects while continuing to work in the field.

Projects You’ll Manage

Our landscape construction projects may include:

  • Paver patios, walkways, steps, borders, and driveways.
  • Segmental retaining walls.
  • Natural stone and flagstone patios, walkways, and steps.
  • Grading and drainage improvements.
  • Excavation and base preparation.
  • Planting installations.
  • Sod and seed installations.
  • Complete landscape renovations and outdoor living projects
Compensation

Pay: $27.00–$30.00 per hour, depending on experience, years of professional landscape and hardscape installation experience, leadership ability, and overall qualifications.

Benefits
  • Consistent year-round work—we keep our team working through all seasons.
  • Four-day work week (10-hour days; weather dependent).
  • Paid Time Off with immediate accrual (2 weeks available after 90 days).
  • SIMPLE IRA with a 3% company match after 90 days.
  • Snow work paid at time-and-a-half.
  • Company uniforms provided.
  • Professional, respectful, team-oriented work environment.
  • Opportunities for advancement—we promote from within and reward employees who take ownership of their work.
Our Core Values
  • Flexible (Swiss Army Knife — We adapt, we find a way, we don’t make excuses.)
  • Ownership (We take initiative, solve problems and fix what we find.)
  • Communication (We communicate early, clearly, and respectfully—internally and with clients.)
  • Urgency (We move fast, respond quickly, and execute without dragging our feet.)
  • Service (We care and earn trust by delivering consistent and professional results.)
Responsibilities
  • Take ownership of assigned landscape and hardscape projects from jobsite setup through completion.
  • Lead and work alongside a 2–3 person landscape installation crew.
  • Plan daily work, assign responsibilities, and keep crew members productive throughout the day.
  • Lead, teach, mentor, and develop crew members while promoting a positive, productive, and safe work environment.
  • Review and interpret landscape plans, construction drawings, job specifications, and project expectations.
  • Accurately lay out projects and establish proper grades, elevations, slopes, and drainage.
  • Oversee and participate in proper installation of hardscapes, retaining walls, plantings, grading, drainage, sod, seed, and other landscape improvements.
  • Demonstrate proper installation techniques, work habits, and safety procedures.
  • Monitor workmanship, production, and quality throughout every phase of the project.
  • Identify site conditions, plan conflicts, material needs, and other potential problems early and develop solutions to keep projects moving.
  • Coordinate labor, equipment, and material needs with the Operations/Production team.
  • Safely operate skid steers, mini skid steers, mini excavators, trenchers, compactors, saws, and other landscape construction equipment.
  • Safely drive company vehicles and tow equipment and material trailers.
  • Communicate professionally with customers regarding project progress, scheduling, site conditions, and expectations.
  • Complete daily job documentation, production reports, project photos, and employee time tracking.
  • Maintain clean, organized, professional, and safe jobsites while protecting customer property and company equipment.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional landscape and hardscape installation experience (2–5 years preferred).
  • Previous experience leading or supervising a landscape installation crew.
  • Proven knowledge of landscape construction, hardscape installation, grading, drainage, excavation, compaction, and site layout.
  • Ability to read and interpret landscape construction plans and accurately lay out projects.
  • Experience safely operating landscape construction equipment and towing equipment trailers.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds repeatedly and perform physically demanding outdoor work in varying weather conditions.

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
