Job summary

BrightView Landscapes in Oceanside, NY is seeking a Landscaper I to support maintenance of diverse outdoor properties. You will perform basic tasks under supervision and help operate commercial landscaping equipment safely.

The role emphasizes plant care, turf maintenance, and teamwork with guests and Crew Leader. Candidates should be reliable, physically able to lift 40 lbs, and have basic horticultural knowledge; certification on level 1 equipment is preferred.

Qualifications

• Able to operate basic landscaping equipment safely.
• Able to lift and carry 40 lbs and perform manual tasks.
• Familiar with horticultural maintenance practices.

Responsibilities

• Cut turf using power mowers and edge with a gas-powered trimmer/blower.
• Prune shrubs and low trees to maintain shape or prune damaged branches.
• Plant and maintain flowerbeds.
• Operate edger and trimmer along sidewalks, beds, and around structures.
• Pick up trash and blow leaves/debris onto turf before mowing.
• Mulch leaves and organic matter when mowing.
• Weed by hand or with a hoe.
• Perform basic maintenance to extend equipment life.
• Remove trash, dead plants, and suckers from landscapes.
• Maintain a polite, friendly demeanor with guests and customers.
• Report unsafe conditions to the Crew Leader.
