Utah State University Housing Services seeks a Landscape Laborer to install, repair, and maintain the campus landscape and grounds on the USU Housing campus. This seasonal role supports timely grounds upkeep and snow removal during winter.

Overview

USU Housing Landscape Laborer is responsible for installation, repair, and maintenance of the landscape and grounds on the USU Housing campus.

This is a seasonal position ending around November/December, when first season snow hits. Employees may be hired back in the spring when the snow has melted, based on performance.

Responsibilities
  • Plant and maintain trees, shrubs, flower beds, etc.
  • Applies insecticides to rid grounds of small pests as needed
  • Applies fertilizers as needed
  • Prunes trees, trims shrubs, and pulls weeds
  • Rakes and mulches the grounds
  • Sprinkler repair and maintenance

The position requires considerable physical activity. Employees must have sufficient strength to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position including heavy lifting (50 pounds) and/or pushing and pulling of heavy objects. Employees must be prepared to assume uncomfortable positions such as crawling, kneeling, and squatting. Employees must adhere to safety precautions and may be required to use protective equipment.
