Job summary

Ryan Lawn & Tree is seeking a Landscape Install Team Member to support the installation crew on residential and commercial projects. The role involves assisting the Crew Leader with plant/tree work, hardscape construction, outdoor living features, and lighting installations, while handling equipment and maintaining site safety.

Responsibilities include following directions, maintaining professional work quality, and ensuring gates and areas are secured at day’s end.

Qualifications

• Background check and pre-employment drug screening are required.
• Valid Iowa driver’s license required to operate company vehicles.
• Heavy lifting up to 100 lbs and working on uneven terrain is expected.
• Operate machinery safely and use PPE as needed.
• Willingness to work overtime and learn new skills.
• Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist Crew Leader with daily prep and deliver professional install work on designated job sites.
• Follow Crew Leader directions on tasks, sequence, equipment, and site priorities.
• Perform plant/tree removal and installation, softscape, hardscape, outdoor living features, and lighting installs as directed.
• Operate equipment as directed and report issues immediately.
• Ensure job sites are clean and gates are secured before leaving.
• Clear debris and clean tools/equipment after each job.
• Return tools to the truck and ensure vehicle is clean and secured.
• Report accidents or damage to Crew Leader and Install Manager.
• Assist with monthly inventory of tools and supplies.
• Participate in annual performance evaluations and skill development.
• Attend company meetings and continuing education as required.
• Perform snow removal duties as part of year-round work.
• Promote safety procedures and company policies.
• Support RJ Lawn & Landscape vision, mission, and values.

Landscape Install Team Member

Salary: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour, based on experience.

About The Role

Support the Landscape Install crew in executing Landscape Designer plans safely and efficiently on assigned install projects for new and existing customers in residential and commercial settings. Landscape Install Team Member duties include assisting the Crew Leader with plant and tree removal and installation, hardscape construction, outdoor living features, and landscape lighting, as well as equipment handling and site cleanup.

What You'll Do

• Assist the Crew Leader in preparing for the workday and producing professional quality install work on assigned job sites.
• Follow Crew Leader direction for task assignments, install sequence, equipment handling, and site-specific priorities on each project.
• Perform plant and tree removal and installation, softscape work, hardscape construction, outdoor living feature assembly, and landscape lighting installation as directed by the Crew Leader.
• Operate equipment as required and directed by the Crew Leader; report any equipment issues or malfunctions immediately.
• Produce professional quality work alongside the crew before leaving each job site; close and lock all gates on client properties before departure.
• Pick up all debris, dirt, and trash from driveways, walkways, sidewalks, stairs, decks, and patios at the completion of each workday.
• Clean, load, and secure all tools and equipment back into the truck at the end of each job; confirm vehicle interior is clean and side/back gates are secured.
• Upon return to the shop, follow Crew Leader direction; return any tools not permanently assigned to the truck and confirm vehicle is clean and secured.
• Report accidents, injuries, or property damage to the Crew Leader and Landscape Install Manager immediately.
• Assist the Crew Leader with monthly inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies in the work vehicle.
• Actively participate in annual Performance Evaluation and identify opportunities to gain experience and learn new skills.
• Attend company meetings as requested for overall company development.
• Attend continuing education classes as required to maintain certifications.
• Perform snow removal duties as assigned as part of year-round employment.
• Promote, demonstrate and enforce safety procedures & company policies.
• Support and enforce RJ Lawn & Landscape vision, mission, and core values.

Requirements

What We're Looking For

• Ability to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening.
• Legally operate company vehicles with a valid Iowa driver’s license.
• Physically perform the work, including lifting up to 100 lbs. for short periods; bending, lifting, and walking on uneven, sloped, or rough terrain; shoveling sand, rock, dirt, and snow; and climbing ladders as needed.
• Operate machinery in a safe and effective manner.
• Use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as necessary.
• Read and understand technical information competently.
• Demonstrate basic math skills and conversions.
• Work overtime as needed.
• Demonstrate problem-solving skills by identifying and resolving issues in a timely manner.
• Maintain adaptability in a dynamic work environment, managing competing demands and unexpected events.
• Communicate clearly and persuasively in both positive and challenging situations.
