Job summary

Denton County is seeking a General Landscaper to help maintain landscaping and the overall appearance of county buildings and locations in Denton, TX. The role involves planting, digging, weed control, and trimming trees and shrubs to uphold grounds quality.

Responsibilities include inspecting after storms, monitoring grounds for pests, maintaining equipment, and coordinating with vendors when the Landscape Project Manager isn’t available. Regular attendance is required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license; must obtain Texas license within 90 days.
• Regular and punctual attendance required.

Responsibilities

• Engage horticultural best practices to manage cultivation at county buildings.
• Inspect locations after storms/high winds for damaged limbs or trees.
• Monitor grounds for insects/diseases weekly; inspect quality of sod, flowers, and trees before planting.
• Maintain landscaping equipment and materials.
• Monitor irrigation health/damages weekly.
• Assist overseeing vendors/crews when Landscape Project Manager is unavailable.
• Report problems to the Project Landscape Manager.
• Inspect and remove debris from ground daily.
• Clear parking lots and sidewalks with a backpack blower.
• Perform other related duties as required.
