Job summary

The University of North Texas in Denton is seeking a Groundskeeper to join the Facilities team. This full-time role involves mowing, pruning, planting and maintaining campus grounds, under the Grounds Supervisor, with responsibilities for equipment operation and safety compliance.

Essential personnel may require overtime, including nights and weekends; retirement eligibility is TRS. This position reports to UNT-Facilities-Gen-152000 and is based at UNT-Facilities in Denton.

Qualifications

• No minimum education or experience required.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather.
• Knowledge of safety and security precautions appropriate to work performed.
• Possession of a valid Texas drivers license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Participates in mowing, trimming, edging, hand weeding, digging, planting, pruning, trash detail, and all other mowing and landscape-related tasks.
• Operates and maintains equipment such as tractors, spreaders, aerators, sprayers, and other landscape-related equipment.
• Assists with troubleshooting plant health care issues and ensuring safety practices are followed.
• Keeps daily records of agronomy applications in compliance with state requirements.
• Assists crew leader to ensure all safety and horticultural practices are followed.
• Performs outdoor skilled work involving care and maintenance of University grounds.
