Job summary

Riverside Health System in Newport News, Virginia is seeking a grounds maintenance worker to keep exterior areas clean and well-kept on Riverside Health System properties. You will use push mowing equipment, power edging, blowers, and trimmers to maintain lawns, mulching and trash removal, and assist with plantings.

You will also perform basic equipment maintenance, follow safety policies, and assist with snow removal and storm cleanup as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Landscape experience preferred, less than 1 year.
• Ability to operate landscape equipment safely.

Responsibilities

• Maintains grounds to Riverside Health System standards using mowing, edging, blowing, trimming, mulching, and cleaning.
• Assists coworkers and completes tasks with accuracy and timeliness.
• Follows safety guidelines and wears PPE.
• Performs light preventive equipment maintenance and maintenance of work areas.
• Participates in snow removal and storm cleanup as needed.

Newport News, VirginiaHiring Range$16.20 - $21.08/Hourly Actual pay is determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, education, credentials, skills, internal equity, and business needs.OverviewResponsible for ensuring grounds are maintained to standard as assigned at Riverside Health System properties. Job assignments will include but not limited to, use of push mowing equipment, power edging, blowers and string trimming equipment; mulching, trash removal, weeding, leaf removal; assist with hedge trimming, planting, and other landscape jobs. Performs preventive maintenance on equipment such as greasing, oil levels, tire inflation, and cleaning/washing of equipment; also performs snow removal/storm clean-up includes, but is not limited to shoveling and cleaning of entranceways, walkways and parking lots of snow, ice and/or debris.What you will doAssists co-workers with the care of their areas of responsibility; addresses customer’s needs regardless of assignment. Assists others to complete tasks when necessary.Executes work plans to achieve the highest quality.
