Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, VA is seeking a Floor Care Technician to join our Environmental Services team overnight. Under supervision, you will perform proper cleaning and floor maintenance to meet state and regulatory standards, ensure a neat, clean, and safe environment for patients, visitors and staff, and assist with supplies and equipment as needed.

The role requires 1–3 years of floor care experience and 1–3 years in a healthcare setting, with a High School diploma

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of floor care experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine cleaning and preventative maintenance of floor care equipment.
  • Clean and maintain floors according to manufacturers’ recommendations and department schedules.
  • Ensure a safe, neat, and infection-controlled environment for patients, visitors and staff.
  • Assist team members with moving equipment, cleaning beds, and ensuring adequate supplies.

Newport News, VirginiaHiring Range$15.60 - $20.25/Hourly Actual pay is determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, education, credentials, skills, internal equity, and business needs.OverviewWorks under the general supervision of the supervisor/team leader/manager and/or the department director. Performs duties to include proper cleaning and floor maintenance that meets state, regulatory agencies, facility regulatory requirements, RHS Infection Control standards, and Environmental Services policies and procedures. Ensures a neat, clean and safe work environment is maintained. Ensures adequate supplies for cleaning and assists team members with moving equipment, cleaning and beds. Performs all other duties as assigned.What you will doDemonstrates positive customer service behaviors consistently. Strives to meet/exceed the needs of the facility's customers/patients by demonstrating flexibility and sense of urgency to create a service excellence experience.Demonstrates respect, concern and empathy for the diverse needs of patients, customers and co-workers.Demonstrates ability to identify floor coverings and provide appropriate care in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations. Able to determine floor care needed by assessing floor coverings condition and perform accordingly.Responsible for routine cleanliness and preventative maintenance of floor care equipment to maximize life of machine and reduce replacement costs.Maintains a safe patient care environment by consistently complying with RHS, DNV, State and regulatory standards to ensure the safety of patients, visitors and staff. Follows guidelines for proper body mechanics, hazardous materials handling and universal precautions to prevent accidents and injuries. Maintains a safe work area.Responsible for assuring safe practices as referenced in the National Patient Safety Goals and in accordance with RHS policies and procedures. Performs all cleaning duties in a timely, safe, and thorough manner in compliance with Infection Control Standards. This includes dusting, cleaning, sanitizing, trash removal, and other services as needed. Areas are cleaned according to schedule and in accordance with departmental policies.Ensures assignments completed in a timely manner ensuring quality/infection control measures are met consistently.
