Job Overview

The Landscape Installation Foreman is a vital part of every landscape crew. They are experienced landscapers performing tasks such as digging, grading, planting, tree bracing, mulching, laying sod, clean-up, and landscape maintenance. They read plans, perform layout, follow OSHA rules, and operate equipment at assigned project sites. They lead a crew of employees and report to the project Superintendent.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead by example.
• Lead a crew to install landscaping per plans and specs on residential and commercial projects.
• Ensure work is performed efficiently and safely.
• Understand and meet schedule and production goals.
• Read plans and perform layout of plant materials.
• Perform work carefully to avoid damaging other trades' work (including irrigation).
• Complete and submit all required paperwork (safety sheets, inspection forms, time and production sheets, etc).
• Train crew members and uphold company standards.
• Plan daily activities with the project superintendent.
• Verify shipments to the jobsite.
• Use hand tools, power tools, and landscaping equipment.
• Lay sod, plant trees, shrubs, ground cover, and annuals.
• Mulch, fertilize, and hand water.
• Perform digging, trenching, grading, and soil movement.
• Follow all safety rules, wear PPE.
• Arrive on time, wear uniform, work well with others, follow directions.
• Operate construction equipment (skid steers, excavators, tractors, etc).
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of landscape experience.
• Ability to read plans and perform layout accurately.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license with a clean record (minimum 3 years).
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• OSHA 10 card (a plus, not required).
• Bilingual Spanish/English (a plus, not required).
• Physical ability to stand, kneel, bend, twist, and squat for long periods.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions.
• Use hand and power tools for extended periods.
• Lift and carry at least 50 pounds regularly.
• Work 8+ hours/day, 5 days/week (overtime/weekend work possible).
