Job Overview

The Landscape Installation Foreman is a key part of the landscape crew. They are experienced landscapers performing tasks such as digging, grading, planting, tree bracing, mulching, laying sod, clean-up, landscape maintenance, reading plans, performing layout, following OSHA rules, and operating equipment at project sites. They lead a crew of employees and report to the project Superintendent.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead by example and oversee crew installation of landscaping per plans and specifications on residential and commercial projects.
• Ensure work is performed efficiently and safely, meeting schedule and production goals.
• Read plans and perform layout of plant materials.
• Perform work carefully to avoid damage to other trades, including irrigation.
• Complete and submit all required paperwork (safety sheets, inspection forms, time sheets, etc.).
• Train crew members and uphold company standards.
• Coordinate daily planning with the project superintendent.
• Verify shipments to the jobsite.
• Use hand tools, power tools, and landscaping equipment.
• Lay sod, plant trees, shrubs, ground cover, and annuals, mulch, fertilize, and water as needed.
• Dig, trench, grade, and move soil.
• Follow all safety protocols, wear PPE, and arrive on time in uniform.
• Operate construction equipment such as skid steers, excavators, tractors, sod cutters, tillers, augers, trenchers, and loaders.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of landscape experience.
• Ability to read plans and perform layout accurately.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license with a clean record, held for at least three years.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• OSHA 10 card is a plus but not required.
• Bilingual Spanish and English is a plus but not required.
• Physical ability to stand, kneel, bend, twist, and squat for long periods.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions, including heat and sun.
• Ability to use hand and power tools for extended periods.
• Capability to lift and carry at least 50 pounds regularly.
• Ability to follow directions and work well with others.
• Work hours of 8+ hours per day, 5 days a week, with potential overtime and weekend work.
