Job summary

Lawn and Turf is seeking a dependable Landscape Crew Leader & Driver to lead a crew, drive a truck and trailer, and ensure each job is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. This hands-on field leadership role organizes daily work, communicates with customers, trains employees, and solves problems in the field.

You will monitor quality, manage timekeeping, and coordinate with management while upholding our standards of integrity and teamwork.

Qualifications

• 1 year of landscaping experience preferred but not required.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Strong leadership, communication, and people skills.
• Ability to safely drive a truck and trailer.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise a landscape crew in the field.
• Drive company trucks and trailers between shop and sites.
• Plan and manage loading/unloading of gear and materials.
• Ensure equipment is fueled and ready before workdays.
• Review daily schedule with crew to keep work flowing.
• Install and move soil, mulch, plants, and landscape materials.
• Train crew on methods, safety, and quality expectations.
• Inspect work for quality and address issues before leaving site.
• Track crew time using company software, including Aspire.

Landscape Crew Leader & Driver

Lawn and Turf / Dynamic Landscaping

Location:Fort Wayne, IN

Pay:$20 to $21 per hour, depending on experience

Job Type:Full-Time, W2 Employment

Season:March 1 to November 30

Schedule:Typically Monday through Friday, with additional hours or occasional weekend work during peak season

We are looking for a dependable and motivated Landscape Crew Leader & Driver who can lead a crew, drive a truck and trailer, work alongside team members, and ensure each job is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.

This is a hands-on field leadership position. You will help organize the crew, manage daily work, communicate with customers and management, train employees, monitor quality, and solve problems in the field.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and supervise a landscape crew while working alongside team members in the field.
• Drive company trucks and trailers safely between the shop, customer properties, and job sites.
• Plan and manage the loading and unloading of trucks, trailers, tools, equipment, and materials.
• Ensure equipment and tools are fueled, prepared, and ready before the workday begins.
• Review the daily schedule and scope of work with the crew and keep jobs moving efficiently.
• Install and move soil, mulch, plants, and other landscape materials as needed.
• Train crew members on proper work methods, safety procedures, equipment use, and quality expectations.
• Inspect completed work for quality and correct issues before leaving the property.
• Manage and verify crew timekeeping using company software, including Aspire.
• Communicate professionally with customers and management, troubleshoot field issues, and help keep equipment and tools properly maintained.

What We’re Looking For

• Valid driver's license required.
• 1 year of landscaping experience preferred but not required.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience leading employees, crews, or teams strongly preferred.
• Ability to safely drive a truck and trailer.
• Strong leadership, communication, and people skills.
• Strong reliability, attendance, and time management skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced outdoor environment and manage multiple responsibilities.
• Basic computer or smartphone skills and willingness to consistently use company software.
• Strong problem-solving skills, physical stamina, and a team-oriented attitude.

Work Environment

This is an active, hands-on outdoor position. Employees should be comfortable working with hand tools, power tools, small-engine equipment, trucks, trailers, and landscaping materials.

The position requires the ability to work outdoors in varying conditions including heat, humidity, rain, cold, dust, and noise. Employees should also be prepared for physically demanding work and flexible hours during the busy season.

Pay and Benefits

• $20 to $21 per hour, depending on experience, leadership ability, and technical background.
• Full-time W2 employment.
