Job Summary

Work under the supervision of the Greenscapes Supervisor to provide a safe and aesthetically pleasing environment in the City’s open spaces, rights of ways, and green belt areas. Communicate effectively and courteously with the public and private sectors about special projects, events, and/or maintenance concerns, ensuring the highest level of service to all customers.

Examples of Duties

1. Coordinate and perform maintenance on medians, rights of way, and landscape beds in the City.
2. Supervise crew members in landscape maintenance activities, including scheduling, weed removal, debris cleanup, pesticide application, planting, trimming, mulching, and equipment operation.
3. Inspect landscape areas regularly to identify issues and prioritize repairs.
4. Maintain records of maintenance operations using Cityworks.
5. Read and suggest edits to construction plans for maintenance compatibility.
6. Order materials and supplies as needed.
7. Attend training to stay updated on landscape maintenance practices.
8. Oversee vehicle and equipment maintenance.
9. Work extended hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
10. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

• High school diploma or GED
• Valid Texas Driver’s License
• Completion of an 8-hour TDA-approved chemical safety class within 6 months of hire
• Experience in landscape maintenance
• Irrigation Technician or Chemical Applicator license (must obtain within 6 months if not held)

Preferred:

• Over 1 year of supervisory experience
