About Bayview Landscape and Maintenance

Bayview Landscape and Maintenance is a values-driven landscape construction and maintenance company focused on high‑quality execution, disciplined operations, and long‑term relationships. We specialize in complex commercial and residential landscape projects and are building a best‑in‑class team to support our growth.

At Bayview, performance is rewarded, accountability is expected, and professionals are trusted to own their work. We believe great estimating is the foundation of profitable, well‑run projects—and we’re looking for a senior estimator who wants real ownership, not just bid volume.

Position Summary

The Landscape Construction Project Estimator is responsible for leading the estimating of landscape construction projects from initial takeoff through final bid submission and operational turnover. This role requires strong technical estimating skills, sound judgment, and the ability to collaborate closely with project managers, field leadership, and ownership.

You will estimate labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor scopes for private and public works projects while helping refine estimating systems, workflows, and standards as the company scales.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare accurate, competitive estimates for landscape construction projects of varying size and complexity
  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and cost modeling (labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors)
  • Bid private and public works projects, including complex scopes such as podiums and rooftop landscapes
  • Review plans, specifications, addenda, and client‑issued documents (ITB, SOW, bid forms, schedules)
  • Monitor planrooms and ensure bids reflect the most current documents
Risk, Pricing & Strategy
  • Build estimates aligned with job‑specific markup strategies
  • Descope subcontractor proposals and identify scope gaps or risk exposure
  • Provide risk assessments and value‑engineering recommendations
  • Support value‑added pricing opportunities where appropriate
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and leadership to ensure clean operational turnover
  • Participate in pre‑bid meetings, scope reviews, and post‑bid discussions
  • Assist in developing estimating standards, templates, and workflows
  • Mentor and support junior estimators or trainees as the department grows
  • Develop and maintain a qualified vendor and subcontractor network
  • Understand wage determinations, prevailing wages, and union classifications where applicable
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal labor requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, horticulture, accounting, mathematics, or related field
  • Equivalent professional experience (4+ years) may substitute for formal education
Experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial landscape or construction estimating
  • Proven track record of bid‑to‑contract conversion
  • Experience in estimating large, complex projects
Technical Skills
  • Proficient in estimating software such as On‑Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam, B2W, and Microsoft Office
  • Strong understanding of labor productivity, equipment costing, and material pricing
  • Ability to interpret construction documents with precision
Professional Skills
  • Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and deadline‑driven
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously in a high‑volume environment
  • Comfortable working independently while collaborating cross‑functionally
  • Professional demeanor with clients, vendors, and internal teams
Licenses & Certifications
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Any required state or federal certifications
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and work at a computer for extended periods
  • Occasional field visits in outdoor conditions
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs occasionally
  • Exposure to construction environments, weather, and typical jobsite conditions
Compensation Package

Bayview offers a competitive and flexible compensation package designed to attract top industry talent:

  • Performance‑based incentives (Total compensation can be $150,000+)
  • 401(k) plan
  • 12 days paid time off and paid holidays
