Job summary

My Backyard Sports is seeking a Landscape Architect to lead site design for residential and light-commercial outdoor projects across the tri-state area. The role covers from initial site assessment through construction-ready drawings, ensuring designs are graded, drained, and permitted.

You will collaborate with field teams, prepare permit and construction sets, and present concepts to homeowners and managers. Proficiency in CAD tools and licensure path are valued.

Qualifications

• Degree in Landscape Architecture (or closely related field).
• Licensed Landscape Architect (or on a clear path to licensure) preferred.
• Experience taking projects from concept through construction documents.
• Working knowledge of local permitting and site approval processes a strong plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead site design and layout for outdoor living and landscape projects.
• Produce grading, drainage, and surfacing plans that are constructible in the field.
• Develop planting plans, hardscape details, and material specifications.
• Prepare permit-ready and construction-ready drawing sets.
• Support permit applications and township/site approvals.
• Collaborate with field project managers to resolve site conditions during construction.
• Present concepts and plans to homeowners and property managers.

North Jersey (Bergen County area) | Full-time or contract

An established design and build firm specializing in high-end outdoor living and landscape construction is seeking a Landscape Architect to lead site design across residential and light-commercial projects throughout the tri-state area.

This is a design-forward role for someone who can take a project from initial site assessment through construction‑ready drawings, and who understands that a beautiful plan still has to grade, drain, and get permitted. You will be the design backbone of our projects and work closely with our field and operations team to make sure what gets drawn is what gets built.

What you'll do:

• Lead site design and layout for outdoor living and landscape projects.
• Produce grading, drainage, and surfacing plans that are constructible in the field.
• Develop planting plans, hardscape details, and material specifications.
• Prepare permit‑ready and construction‑ready drawing sets.
• Support permit applications and township/site approvals.

What we're looking for:
