Qualifications

Key Responsibilities

Stonefield Engineering & Design is currently recruiting an experienced Licensed Landscape Architect to join and help grow our Landscape Design Team. This is a dynamic position offering the opportunity to take a leading role in the design and execution of a diverse portfolio of land development projects while collaborating closely with Stonefield’s civil engineering, planning, surveying, and traffic engineering teams.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong landscape architecture and site design background, demonstrated project leadership experience, strong interpersonal and client‑facing skills, intellectual curiosity, and a desire for continued professional growth. As Stonefield is a multidisciplinary firm, the ability to collaborate across disciplines and contribute to integrated site design solutions is essential.

Responsibilities will include leading landscape architecture and site design efforts from initial concept through permitting and construction. The Licensed Landscape Architect will be responsible for developing creative and functional site plans, landscape and planting plans, hardscape design, grading concepts, lighting coordination, and other site design elements.

The position will also include project management responsibilities, client coordination, zoning and land development permitting, presentations before municipal boards and reviewing agencies, preparation and review of construction documents, field observations, site plan drafting and review, photorealistic renderings, environmental considerations, and preparation of project reports and supporting documentation.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to take ownership of projects, mentor and support junior staff, contribute to the continued development of Stonefield's landscape architecture capabilities, and play an active role in strengthening and expanding the firm's Site Design practice.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

While there are numerous technical skills that will contribute to success in this position—including expertise in AutoCAD, site design, grading, planting design, permitting, and construction documentation—we are equally interested in professionals who seek to overcome challenges, develop creative solutions, and be innovators within the industry.

The following minimum qualifications are expected of candidates:

• Professional licensure as a Landscape Architect (LLA/RLA) with the ability to obtain additional state licenses as needed
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited program
• 5+ years of professional landscape architecture, and/or land development experience
• Demonstrated experience managing and delivering landscape architecture and site design projects
• Strong understanding of site planning, planting design, grading, hardscape design, and construction documentation
• Experience with zoning, land development approvals, and the site plan permitting process
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite
• Strong written, verbal, presentation, and organizational skills
• Ability to effectively coordinate with clients, consultants, reviewing agencies, and multidisciplinary project teams
• Ability to manage multiple projects, schedules, and priorities
• Leadership skills and an interest in mentoring and developing junior team members
• Self-motivation, natural curiosity, and a desire to contribute to the continued growth of the firm

Experience SketchUp and/or other 3‑D visualization software, photorealistic rendering, municipal board presentations, construction administration, irrigation design, and business development is a plus.
