The Town of Carrboro, NC is seeking a hardworking Grounds Maintenance Worker to perform landscaping and park upkeep across town facilities. Responsibilities include mowing, trimming, planting, leaf collection, and equipment operation, with supervision of crew as needed.
Applicants should have graduation from high school and substantial grounds maintenance experience, and may need a NC CDL Class B license or the ability to obtain one within six months, plus pesticide certification.
This is very heavy work requiring exertion in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects; work requires climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and grasping; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, use of measuring devices, assembly or fabrication of parts at or within arm's length, operation of machines, and operation of motor vehicles or equipment; the worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, noise, vibration, hazards, atmospheric conditions, oils, and wearing a respirator.
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and considerable experience in landscaping or grounds maintenance and some experience in the operation of motorized equipment.
