Job summary

A Tribal organization is seeking a Lands Technician to provide support to the Lands Division and assist Tribal Membership with land management issues. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, relevant experience in natural resources management, and strong skills in Microsoft Office applications. This full-time entry-level position is based in Ignacio, Colorado, and requires passing a background check and skills test.

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience working with natural resources management/land/realty issues.
• 1 year of experience reviewing legal documents related to realty transactions.
• 1 year of experience interpreting legal descriptions and preparing maps.
• 1 year of clerical experience.
• Valid Driver’s license and insurable under Tribal Vehicle Insurance Policy.
• Pass a criminal background check and drug test.

Responsibilities

• Provides technical and clerical support to the Lands Division.
• Disseminates general information regarding land status issues.
• Manages Crossing Permits and other land management issues.

Position Summary

Provides technical and clerical support to the Lands Division and provides general information to the Tribal Membership and general public regarding land status issues, Crossing Permits, and general land management related issues.

Grade and Pay

Grade N10; pay is $21.89/hour.

Education and Experience

• Must have a High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Must have 1 year of experience working with natural resources management/land/realty issues.
• Must have 1 year of experience in reviewing legal documents, such as Deeds of Trust, Warranty Deeds, Quit Claim Deeds, or contracts and leases related to realty or real property transactions.
• Must have 1 year of experience in reviewing and interpreting legal descriptions, plats or preparing maps.
• Must have 1 year of clerical experience.
• Must have a strong background in computer software programs including Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Must be able to pass a Lands Division skills test.
• Must have a valid Driver’s license for state of residency and be insurable under the Tribal Vehicle Insurance Policy.
• Must pass a thorough criminal history background check and pre-employment drug test.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong computer skills in GIS/Arcview, and PowerPoint.
• Knowledge of Tribal and Federal land related law.
• Knowledge of the Southern Ute Indian Reservation, Tribal natural resources, and land ownership status.
