Job summary

Salt Lake County seeks a Landfill Operations Supervisor to manage daily activities at the landfill, including staff supervision, scheduling, equipment and building maintenance, and enforcement of policies.

The role requires seven years of related experience with supervisory exposure, a Stormwater certification, and a valid Class A CDL with a current UDOT Medical Card. A mandatory drug test and RAP Back background check are required.

Qualifications

• Seven (7) years of related experience, of which one (1) year must have been supervisory.
• Stormwater certification at time of hire or within 90 days of hire.
• CDL Class A required within 6 months and a current UDOT Medical Card at hire.
• Must pass a mandatory drug test and undergo random testing.

Responsibilities

• Supervises staff including hiring, promotion, orientation, training, and performance reviews.
• Assigns and schedules staff, equipment, and resources for daily operations.
• Ensures compliance with safety, regulatory, environmental, and permit requirements.
• Oversees equipment and facility maintenance; recommends replacements.
• Supports budgeting, monitors expenses, and prepares reports and correspondence.
• Ensures waste volume reduction plans and proper recycling procedures.
