Do you value serving your community? Prince William County, Virginia, is looking to hire an Assistant Solid Waste Superintendent for the Department of Public Works, Solid Waste Division. This job is at the County’s Municipal Sanitary Landfill in Manassas. The person in this role will manage roll-off trucking operations and customer service areas. Along with other Assistant Superintendents, serves as the group responsible for the facility when the Landfill Superintendent is unavailable. The best candidate should have an associate degree or higher, or at least five years of experience managing trucking operations and customer service. They also need a minimum of five years of direct supervisory experience.

The Assistant Solid Waste Superintendent operates mostly independently, both in the office and out in the field, under the guidance of the Landfill Superintendent. This position requires strong ethical judgment and the ability to interpret, understand, and adhere to a wide array of complex regulations and permits. The role demands a leader with keen ethical awareness and the capability to manage compliance with diverse, detailed regulatory requirements. It also calls for knowledge of effective trucking business methods and the ability to supervise outstanding customer service operations.

The typical work schedule for this position is 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Working some weekends and holidays is required. Responding to emergencies, inclement weather, and other issues that may impact facility operations before and after regular working hours, including on holidays and weekends, with little or no notice is required.
$70,921.50 to 125,014.50 annually (Min-Max based on salary determination worksheet for C42 37.50 schedule)
