Job summary

Republic Services in Kilgore, TX seeks a Heavy Equipment Operator to safely operate light and heavy equipment in a hazardous waste treatment facility or landfill. You will assist in off-loading trucks, stabilize and handle waste, and support treatment processes.

This role emphasizes safety, accuracy, and efficient operation. Ideal candidates will have experience with equipment operation, basic vehicle inspection, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining high quality

Qualifications

• Must hold a 40-hour HAZWOPER (with 8-hour refresher) or ability to pass course upon hire.
• Knowledge of light and heavy equipment operation.
• Ability to use hand and power tools applicable.
• Knowledge of basic vehicle inspection and maintenance, including (but not limited to): check tire pressure, check oil and water levels.
• Demonstrates, accuracy, thoroughness and attention to detail.
• Must be able to prioritize, stay focused and handle multiple, diverse responsibilities.
• A valid driver’s license may be required for some positions.

Responsibilities

• Assists in off-loading trucks and unloading waste.
• Operates equipment to stabilize and handle waste.
• Processes treatment of materials and containers.
• Samples post-treated materials for testing by laboratory.
• Loads cleared post-treatment materials for shipment to landfill or disposal.
• Performs general preventative maintenance to equipment and general housekeeping.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
