Job Title: Landfill Gas Technician
This role supports operations and maintenance activities for landfill gas systems, with a focus on analyzing landfill well data, maintaining mechanical equipment, and ensuring safe and efficient gas collection operations across multiple sites in the Marshall, MI area.
Analyze landfill well data using an eTools system to support effective landfill gas collection and control.
Perform pump maintenance, including pulling, rebuilding, troubleshooting, and replacing pumps used in landfill gas systems.
Conduct landfill gas reading and tuning to optimize system performance and ensure regulatory compliance.
Use surface emissions monitoring (SEMs) and probes to assess landfill gas emissions and system integrity.
Collect and enter field data accurately, maintaining clear and organized records of measurements and observations.
Support environmental testing and field sampling activities related to landfill gas operations.
Operate company equipment and vehicles safely and in accordance with company policies and safety procedures.
Travel to multiple landfill sites within the Great Lakes region to perform routine and corrective maintenance.
Follow all safety protocols and contribute to a culture that prioritizes safety and people first.
Collaborate with team members and supervisors to identify system issues, propose solutions, and implement corrective actions.
Mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair on pumps and related mechanical equipment.
Experience with landfill operations, landfill gas systems, or environmental field work.
Ability to read, tune, and interpret landfill gas data from wells, SEMs, and probes.
Proficiency in data entry and data collection for environmental or field-based measurements.
Understanding of environmental testing and field sampling practices.
Valid driver’s license and ability to safely operate company vehicles.
Commitment to working safely and following established safety procedures.
Willingness and ability to travel regularly to landfill sites within the Great Lakes area.
This position operates as a traveling landfill gas technician throughout the Great Lakes area, typically within 1 hour of the assigned site in Marshall, MI . The role involves working at multiple surrounding landfills, including several local sites and additional locations within the state, with occasional support for sites in neighboring states. Work is primarily field-based at active landfill facilities, involving outdoor conditions, varying weather, and exposure to typical landfill environments. The technician uses company-provided equipment and has access to a company truck for travel between sites. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Marshall, MI.
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.
