Job summary

The Delaware Solid Waste Authority is seeking to hire a temporary Landfill Laborer to work with the Landfill Gas staff at our Cherry Island Landfill located in Wilmington, DE. This position has the potential of becoming a regular full time position.

Starting payrate: $20.00 per hour. The role supports Wellfield Technicians by modifying, expanding, and repairing landfill gas systems as needed. It is a safety sensitive position requiring drug testing.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Backhoe experience preferred.
• First Aid and CPR certification required.
• Knowledge of basic mechanics and heavy equipment.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Fusing pipe experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assists Wellfield Technicians with modifying landfill gas systems according to needs.
• Assists in expanding landfill gas systems as per plans.
• Assists in repairs of landfill gas systems as necessary.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
