Job summary

Geosyntec Consultants is seeking a Landfill Gas (LFG) Engineer for our Walnut Creek or Oakland, California offices. You will design GCCS, evaluate LFG captures for energy or vehicle fuel, perform engineering analyses, and prepare detailed permits and drawings.

The role includes fieldwork, cost estimation, and potential project management as you support solid waste and regulatory compliance efforts. Required are a civil/environmental/geotechnical engineering degree, 5+ years of relevant

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in civil, environmental, biosystems, or geotechnical engineering is required.
  • PE registration or ability to obtain within 1 year is preferred.
  • 5+ years of related experience; 7+ years preferred.
  • Experience with environmental monitoring, permitting, and LFG system design is required.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills; willingness for fieldwork and travel.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and designs landfill gas collection and control systems (GCCS).
  • Conducts studies to capture LFG for beneficial uses and marketable products.
  • Performs analyses such as slope stability, hydrologic and landfill gas modeling, seismic, seepage.
  • Prepares permit applications, calculations, drawings, specifications, and permits.
  • Ensures compliance with air emissions and regulatory requirements.
  • Fieldwork for investigation, design, construction, monitoring, and tuning of systems.
  • Provides cost estimation, feasibility studies, and contract reviews for gas recovery projects.
  • Assists in proposals and business development; potential project management responsibilities.
