Job summary

Harnden Group, LLC is seeking an Estimator/Landfill Construction Estimator to prepare estimates for landfill projects across PA, MD, DE, NJ and VA. The role includes takeoffs, pricing, bid submissions, and collaboration with the estimating team.

Based in Harrisburg, PA, with a strong emphasis on accurate quantity takeoffs and coordination with subcontractors and vendors. Ideal candidates bring 3–5 years of civil/site estimating experience, landfill project exposure, and familiarity with

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3-5 years of estimating experience in civil/site construction, with landfill project exposure preferred.
• A two- or four-year degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• Understanding of civil drawings and specifications including earthwork, utilities, and E&S controls.
• Ability to use Bluebeam and AutoCAD Civil 3D as takeoff tools.
• Familiarity with HCSS HeavyBid and SmartBid.
• Knowledge of surveying and GPS equipment is a plus.
• U.S. citizen required for restricted site access.

Responsibilities

• Review and understand drawings for scope of work including grading, utilities, landfill gas, leachate collection and erosion controls.
• Review project specifications and perform measurements for payments and geotechnical reports.
• Travel to pre-bid meetings and conduct site reviews.
• Complete quantity takeoffs to estimate crew setup and material costs.
• Identify subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive quotes.
• Develop production rates and crew/equipment setups for bulk earthwork and site/landfill elements.
• Build schedules with concurrent activities and prepare bid submissions.
• Maintain relationships with contractors and vendors throughout projects and collaborate with the Estimating Team.
