Roanoke County, Virginia is seeking a detail-oriented land use program assistant to perform field inspections and support the Administrative Assistant. You will read blueprints, measure features, and collect data for the CAMA system.
You will assist the public with regulations, process Land Use Applications, and maintain organized files while collaborating with staff and property owners in a professional manner.
Performs responsible and technical duties related to the Land Use Program. Conducts field inspections of work completed on properties for which building permits have been issued. Provides support to the Administrative Assistant. Work is performed with established guidelines and procedures but requires the use of independent judgement in addressing routine matters and determining appropriate actions within assigned responsibilities. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required: High school diploma or equivalent supplemented by college level courses in office administration or a related field.
Preferred: Associates Degree.
Required: Experience in conducting field inspections including measuring, listing features, etc.
Preferred: Experience in a real estate appraisal office or a related field.
Required: Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
Knowledge of general office management and basic accounting principles. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy when dealing with others. Ability to work within multiple lines of authority. Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality. Excellent organizational and detail-oriented skills. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word. Ability to read plans and blueprints. Ability to use field equipment; tape measure, wheel tape measure, laser measure. Ability to work outside in various climates and topographies.
