Job summary

Furtado & Associates, Inc. in Seattle, WA, is seeking a Land Surveyor in Training (LSIT) to support the ROW Department under licensed surveyors. You will gain experience through reviews, boundary calculations, and preparation of legal descriptions while working toward licensure.

The role offers exposure to projects across transportation infrastructure, with mentorship from PLS and opportunities to develop professional credentials in a growth-focused firm.

Qualifications

• Degree in Land Surveying/Geomatics (preferred).
• Passed the Fundamentals of Surveying exam.
• Registered or able to register as an LSIT.
• Must have high-level competence in land surveying and be dependable.
• GPS experience is a plus; CAD experience is a must.
• Experience with Autodesk Civil 3D, Word, Excel, and SharePoint.
• Ability to learn other software quickly.
• Fundamental knowledge of surveying, boundary determination, GIS, and related laws.

Responsibilities

• Review legal exhibits and legal descriptions.
• Review plans and specifications.
• Prepare plans using CADDAssist.
• Search legal records, survey records, and land titles for boundaries.
• Prepare sketches, maps, reports, and legal descriptions of surveys.
• Direct or conduct surveys to establish legal boundaries.
• Write descriptions of boundary surveys for deeds or leases.
• Prepare or supervise preparation of data, charts, plots, maps, and documents.
• Coordinate findings with engineers, clients, and project teams.
• Analyze survey objectives and prepare proposals.
• Provide work to PLS for review and approval.
