A leading surveying company in Wichita, Kansas, is looking for a motivated individual to join their team as a Land Surveyor's Assistant. The role involves supporting surveyors with boundary surveys and performing various tasks outdoors in changing weather conditions. Applicants should have at least a high school diploma, possess strong communication skills, and be able to lift heavy equipment. Formación

Overview

Learn how to become a Land Surveyor!

This position supports a Surveyor while performing boundary surveys and staking. We are looking for a motivated individual who likes to be out in the field and is dedicated, loyal, hard-working, and gets satisfaction out of a full day’s work.

Responsibilities

To give you an idea of what the day looks like:

Morning tasks

• Check with Crew Chief for daily scope of work — load any and all needed equipment (GPS equipment, batteries, radios, metrotech, total station, hard hats, steel toe boots and other PPE) and top off/load needed survey supplies (lath, paint, flagging spikes, red/white flags, posts and any other necessities). Keep company vehicle clean.

Throughout the day

• Be prepared to drive to and from the job site.

• Set up and tear down GPS base, carry all the supplies in a lath bag, backpack or belt.

• Make sure to have enough water and anything else you may need throughout the day (Always plan on being gone for most of the day).

End of the work day

• Unload any equipment not needed.

• Put all batteries on chargers. (Make sure they are charging)

• Check with Crew Chief before going home.

Weekly Tasks

• Monday’s time is due for the previous week worked; enter time.

• Friday’s should be a day to clean equipment (Unload and wipe down GPS, wash trucks, and clean office, bathrooms and shop areas). Check with all Crew Chiefs to see if there is anything needing to be done.

Education and Skills

Education: High School Diploma / GED

Knowledge: 6+ months experience as a Surveying Assistant (Preferred)

Communication Skills: Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

Additional: Ability to bend, stoop, reach and lift 75 lbs. Honest, Professional, Organized, Pays Attention to detail, Dependability, Thoroughness, Documentation Skills, Inventory Control, Safety Conscious, Strong Work Ethic, Self-driven with little or no supervision. Must have current and valid driver’s license with MVR that meets Company requirements. Must be willing and able to enroll in a drug & alcohol screening and criminal background program.

Working Conditions

Mental and physical labor are a part of this job. Working conditions are mostly outdoor and the job is subject to extreme weather conditions. Must be able to walk for long periods of time and/or operate ATVs through a variety of terrains.

Driver’s License and clean driving record required.
