Job summary

A. Morton Thomas, LLC (AMT) is hiring a Land Survey Field Technician to work based out of our office in Washington, DC. This entry-level role requires no prior survey experience and includes on-the-job training and support.

You will perform field survey activities, operate survey instruments, and assist with manual labor on construction sites. A valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• Entry-level position with on-the-job training provided.
• High School Diploma required; further studies preferred (AS/BSc in Land Surveying or GIS).
• No prior survey experience required.
• Valid Driver’s License required.
• Must be able to perform manual labor and field tasks.

Responsibilities

• Perform field survey activities to support the survey crew chief.
• Operate survey instruments, levels, GPS, iPad, and data collector (training provided).
• Perform manual labor tasks such as opening utility manholes and placing survey points.
• Stock survey supplies and follow on-site safety procedures.
• Complete daily field survey activities as directed by the survey crew chief.

A. Morton Thomas, LLC (AMT) is hiring a Land Survey Field Technician to work based out of our office in Washington, DC. This position requires NO previous survey experience. As part of this team, you will receive on the job training and support. • Perform field survey activities to support the survey crew chief
• Field survey activities will include technical support: Operate survey instruments, levels, GPS, iPad, and data collector. Entry-level staff will be trained to operate survey instruments during the first year of employment
• Field survey activities will include manual labor support: open and investigate utility manholes, set survey points with sledgehammer, set survey points on construction sites, stock survey supplies in survey vehicle
• Perform daily field survey activities as directed by the survey crew chief
• High School Diploma
• Certified Survey Technician, Associates Degree, Bachelors in Land Surveying or GIS preferred
• 0-1 years of experience
• Entry level position
• Basic knowledge of field surveying procedures desired but not mandatory
• Interpersonal skills to interface effectively with team members
• Positive attitude and professional bearing
• Demonstrated ability to learn new tasks and develop personally and professionally
• Must be service oriented and be excited to work in a team environment
• Valid Driver’s License
