Job summary

midwest3pl in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, is seeking a detail-oriented professional to research land rights, analyze deeds and easements, and document property records. This full-time on-site role requires analyzing maps, GIS data, and county records, with the goal of producing clear reports and summaries for property records.

You will work with GIS tools, maintain a deeds database, and prepare maps and reports for internal use.

Qualifications

• Education in Research, Real Estate, Geography, or a related field.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Google Earth Pro, ArcGIS & county land record systems.
• Interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct railroad deed research, including easement identification, and historical land analysis.
• Review and interpret right‑of‑way maps, valuation sections, and engineering plats.
• Analyze parcel boundaries, encroachments, and property overlaps using GIS tools and county assessor data.
• Evaluate property rights, exceptions, and restrictions.
• Maintain database of deeds, easements, leases, and statutory permit documentation.
• Prepare clear reports, maps, and summaries for property records.

Research land rights by analyzing historical deeds, easements, County assessors’ records, and Secretary of State websites. Review engineering drawings, maps, deeds, and easements to approve railroad crossings. Document information. Complete small projects as needed.

Full-Time Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM

On-site position located at 4625 20th Ave SW, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, 52404
