Job summary

CyberCoders is seeking a Land & Development Senior Engineer to lead design, permitting, and construction support for land development projects, coordinating with clients, municipalities, and multidisciplinary teams.

You will mentor junior staff, manage schedules and budgets, stamp plans, and ensure code-compliant, sustainable solutions from concept through closeout. This role requires a PE, 7+ years of experience, and strong communication to win proposals and deliver on-time, within budget.

Qualifications

  • Licensed PE in relevant state(s) required.
  • Minimum 7 years of land development and construction engineering experience; design and construction support.
  • Experience with development plans, municipal permitting, and coordination with regulatory agencies.
  • Strong stormwater, sewer/utilities, grading, and erosion control design skills.
  • Experience preparing permit submittals and as-built documentation; familiarity with local codes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead civil engineering for land development projects including site layout, grading, utilities, and stormwater management.
  • Prepare, review, and stamp development plans, reports, calculations, and permit submittals.

Land & Development Senior Engineer
Position Overview

We are seeking a seasoned Land & Development Senior Engineer to lead engineering design, permitting, and construction support for land development projects. The roles primary objective is to deliver safe, code-compliant civil engineering solutionsfrom conceptual design and development plans through permitting and construction closeoutwhile coordinating with clients, municipal agencies, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams. The Senior Engineer will mentor junior staff, manage technical review and quality control, and ensure projects are delivered on schedule and within budget.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead civil engineering for land development projects including site layout, grading, utilities, stormwater management, and erosion control.
  • Prepare, review, and stamp development plans, technical reports, calculations, and permit submittals in accordance with codes and municipal requirements.
  • Coordinate permitting and approvals with municipal agencies, utilities, and regulatory authorities (stormwater, sewer, environmental, floodplain).
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, stormwater design, and floodplain assessments; prepare associated documentation for regulatory review.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, and scope; provide construction cost input and value engineering recommendations.
  • Provide construction-phase services including field supervision, responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, conducting site visits, and preparing as-built documentation.
  • Oversee, mentor, and QA/QC the work of junior engineers, designers, and consultants; lead technical workshops and design reviews.
  • Coordinate and communicate with contractors, developers, surveyors, and interdisciplinary teams to resolve design and construction issues.
  • Ensure compliance with local codes, ordinances, and best practices; incorporate sustainable and resilient design principles where appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships, prepare proposals, and support business development activities as required.
Qualifications
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in relevant state(s) required.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in land development and construction engineering, including design and construction support.
  • Proven experience with development plans, municipal permitting processes, and coordination with regulatory agencies.
  • Strong technical skills in stormwater design, sewer and utility design, grading, and erosion control.
  • Experience preparing permit submittals and as-built documentation; familiarity with local codes and design standards.
  • Demonstrated field supervision experience and ability to work with contractors during construction.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting to clients and municipal reviewers.
  • Project management experience, including schedule and budget management; ability to lead multidisciplinary teams.
  • Nice-to-have: degree in Civil Engineering, Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) certification, or PMP certification.
  • Nice-to-have: hands-on experience with municipal projects, floodplain management, development codes, and site stormwater modeling tools.
  • Nice-to-have: familiarity with creating development plans, construction permits, and as-built drawings; proficiency with CAD and engineering software.
