Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid Arizona Driver’s License required.
• Demonstrated oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with legal property descriptions, real estate law, and utility engineering/specifications.
• Mathematics skills including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
• Basic proficiency in a Windows computer environment.

Responsibilities

• Land Agent I supports acquisition of land rights for utility facilities.
• Assists with right-of-way, easement, permitting, and land acquisition tasks.
• Engages with property owners, agencies, and stakeholders to research and document land rights.
• Negotiates and acquires easements, permits, releases, waivers, and abandonments for projects.
• Researches ownership, title information, and public records to determine required land rights.
• Analyzes engineering requirements and prepares supporting legal documents.
• Mitigates routine right-of-way encroachments and protects company facilities.
• Supports litigation research and relocation projects related to land matters.
• Utilizes mapping and GIS tools to support land acquisition activities.

Job Description

The Land Agent I completes routine assignments involving acquisition of all private and governmental land rights necessary for construction, operation, maintenance and protection of the company’s distribution, transmission and communication facilities.

Responsibilities

• Land Agent I responsible for acquiring and supporting the management of land rights needed for utility construction, operation, maintenance, and protection of company facilities.
• Supports right-of-way, easement, permitting, and land acquisition activities for utility infrastructure projects.
• Works with property owners, agencies, and internal stakeholders to research, negotiate, and document land rights.
• Negotiate and acquire easements, permits, subordinations, releases, waivers, and abandonments required for utility projects.
• Research property ownership, title information, and public records to determine required land rights.
• Analyze engineering requirements and prepare supporting legal documents and applications.
• Mitigate routine right-of-way encroachments and assist with protecting company facilities.
• Support litigation research, land rights documentation, relocation projects, and internal business partners on land-related matters.
• Utilize mapping and GIS tools to support land acquisition and right-of-way activities.

• Arizona Real Estate License preferred but not required.
• Associate’s degree with emphasis in Real Estate preferred.
