Job summary

Sea Pro Boats is seeking a Lamination Technician to support the lamination department. You will work in areas including rolling, spraying, open lamination, gel coat spraying, chop gun, prepping materials, waxing and sanding, preparing fiberglass for molding and strip creation.

Responsibilities include following SOPs, mixing catalysts, saturating fabrics, applying resin layers, and ensuring correct thickness and quality by smoothing and inspecting for flaws.

Qualifications

• Experience with lamination processes in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read gauges and levels.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work standing for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Follow lamination procedures per SOP and safety guidelines.
• Mix catalysts into resins and saturate cloth/mats as required.
• Apply resin layers to mold surfaces to achieve target thickness.
• Place precut fiberglass and press layers to ensure proper bonding.
• Smooth wrinkles and air bubbles; inspect for imperfections.
• Maintain safety training and follow PPE requirements.
• Assist with other duties as assigned.

Summary

Lamination Technician works in the Lamination Department reporting to the Lamination Manager.

Position Overview:

Lamination Technician may work in various areas of the lamination department to include: rolling, spraying, open lamination, gel coat sprayer, chop gun, prepping material, waxing and sanding. Prepare fiberglass for molding and strip creation.

Key Responsibilities

• Follow proper lamination processes in procedures per SOP
• Mix catalysts into resins
• Saturate cloth and mats with mixtures with the use of brushes
• Apply layers of plastic resin to mold surfaces prior to placement of fiberglass mats, repeating layers until desired thickness according to product standards and the plastics have jellied
• Select precut fiberglass strips and place onto prepared molds
• Pat, press layers of saturated mat, cloth, pieces of fiberglass on molds using brushes, rollers or hands
• Smooth out wrinkles, air bubbles or other imperfections with hands, rollers or squeegees
• Maintain Safety training as assigned
• Other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements

• Ability to Stand and Walk for extended periods of time.
• Ability to lift, roll, push, pull, carry in order to move up to 50 lbs.
• Frequent needs to: climb, crawl, push, pull, lift, stoop, crouch, kneel, crawl, speak, hear, visually inspect work, rotate arms at various angles, reach overhead, reach at or below shoulder level, gross, fine manipulation to operate hand and power tools, etc.
• Read levels, temperatures and gauges.
• Ability to work in confined spaces within boats, shells, hulls and decks.
• Work in an environment with exposure to noise at levels not requiring ear protection, chemicals, and dust. Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators, gloves, and eye protection.
• Must be able to wear required PPE including safety glasses, gloves, steel-toe boots, and respirators as required.
