Palace Entertainment is a leading leisure park operator in the United States and Australia overseeing more than 25 entertainment venues, hotels, and educational venues across 11 different states.
The Security Supervisor is responsible for security duties in the protection of life and property through crime prevention and enforcement of laws and policy. Supervisor duties range from periods of physical inactivity to situations requiring extreme physical exertion and exposure to danger. Supervisors must be able to act without immediate supervision and exercise independent judgment in meeting emergencies and provide leadership for other Security Team Members.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Supervisory Duties:
- Supervise the daily operations of the Security team and any other assigned departments.
- Lead by example, attitude, and as a representation of Lake Compounce’s core values.
- Act as an approachable mentor and coach to all assigned team members.
- Become knowledgeable of performing the essential duties of all security positions and backfill these positions when needed.
- Participate in all aspects of supervision of assigned employees, including hiring, orientation, training, performance coaching, and discipline.
- Ensure that all required meal and other breaks are being given in accordance with Connecticut law.
- Assist with team scheduling and timekeeping activities.
Departmental Duties:
- Act as Security “One” in the absence of the Security Manager.
- Maintain constant vigilance while the park is operating to identify any potential issues or safety concerns; communicate any potential issues to other departments and/or leadership in a timely manner.
- Maintain compliance with company and industry best practices, policies, and procedures to create a safe environment for colleagues and guests.
- Monitor guest safety and communicate conflicts to supervisors on duty.
- Handle elevated guest complaints or conflicts that occur on the property.
- Approve and send incident reports to the proper channels.
- Act as a first responder at the scene of accidents or crimes; secures scene, provides emergency CPR/AED and first aid.
- Take control of emergency and intense situations while remaining calm.
- Professionally manage crowd control during emergency situations.
- Contact local law enforcement personnel when circumstances warrant.
- Exercise clear and concise communications with all park departments.
- Collaborate with the parking team members to conduct traffic duties, when needed.
- Enforce the parking lot rules and regulations.
- Respond to routine and emergency calls throughout the park property.
- Assist in safety prevention efforts, including responding to all safety calls, fire alarms, and emergencies.
- Utilize electronic card access, closed circuit television, and other audio/visual monitoring systems.
- Enforce all Park rules and regulations.
- All other duties assigned by leadership.
Education and Experience:
- High School diploma, GED, or equivalent; Equivalent work experience will also be considered.
- College degree in Criminal Justice or related discipline desired; Equivalent work experience will be considered.
- 2-3 years of previous security, criminal justice, or related experience highly desired.
- CPR/AED and First Aid (Training provided).
- Connecticut Guard Card is required.
Language: Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English; Spanish or other bilingual language skills are a plus.
Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years of age to comply with Connecticut Child Labor Laws.
- Ability to work flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be able to work third shift (overnight) if the park security operates on a 24-hour schedule.
- Must have reliable transportation to and from your scheduled shift.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
- Ability to safely and efficiently operate motorized vehicles and equipment.
- Ability to comprehend and carry out verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to apply knowledge of modern security methods, procedures, interviewing, listening, observation, and note-taking techniques for specific situations.
- Must possess solid knowledge and understanding of the constitutional rights of citizens.
- Must possess working knowledge of proper investigation principles, practices, and reporting techniques.
- Ability to deal fairly, objectively, and courteously with the public without regard to race, ethnicity, religion, or political beliefs.
- Ability to analyze people and/or situations quickly and calmly and take appropriate actions in a quick and effective manner.
- Ability to operate a variety of electronic equipment, such as cameras, radios, personal computers, or other communication devices.
- Ability to professionally and calmly deal with stressful and/or tense situations.
- Ability to collaborate with other team members, external first responders, and emergency personnel during emergency situations.
- Must possess exceptional customer service skills, with an ability to resolve questions, problems, issues, and concerns in a positive and professional manner.
- Ability to maintain certifications as required by assignment.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and remain on feet for majority of the workday.
- Ability to occasionally stoop, twist, kneel, bend, squat, or reach above shoulders.
- Ability to walk, stand, or run on uphill, downhill, or uneven surfaces.
- Ability to remain sedentary for extended periods of time, while using a computer/camera equipment.
- Ability to carry, push, pull, lift, and hold objects weighing 30 pounds or more.
- Must have good visual acuity, night vision, and peripheral vision.
- Ability to see details of objects that are more than a few feet away.
Working Conditions:
- This role will be based in both an office setting as well as frequent exposure to all other indoor and outdoor park environments.
- Frequent exposure to the variable outside temperatures, including high heat, cold, direct sun, humidity, dust, rain, snow, ice, and other weather conditions.
- Subject to dark environments, particularly during midnight shift.
- Subject to constant repetitive motion, high noise levels, flashing lights, and heavily populated environments.
- Subject to frequent interruptions and requests that may require reprioritization of activities.
