Job summary

Center For Alcohol & Drug Treatment in Duluth, MN offers a Licensed Alcohol & Drug Counselor Intern position that operates in person under supervision by a licensed counselor. The role provides exposure to the 12 core functions, including counseling, case management, and referrals, within a clinical agency setting.

You will work on maintaining records, participating in team meetings, and supporting families with referrals while pursuing required Co-occurring Disorders training.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must be a student enrolled in an alcohol & drug counselor education program at an accredited school or educational program.
• Must have or obtain CPR & First Aid certification or obtain before direct patient contact.
• Must pass background studies issued by the Minnesota Department of Human Services.
• Must have or complete within 6 months of hire 12 hours of Co-occurring Disorders training.

Responsibilities

• Provide substance abuse counseling services under supervision within the 12 core functions.
• Follow and support Center’s philosophy, policies, and procedures.
• Develop professional relationships with referral sources and community agencies.
• Meet with families to identify service needs and make referrals under supervision.
• Participate in team staffing, staff meetings, and consultations.
• Learn to maintain records according to Center policies and procedures.
