Job summary

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is seeking a Lactation Consultant to lead breastfeeding education for patients, families, and the community. You will collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other professionals to deliver evidence-based lactation support across the perinatal continuum.

Qualified candidates are registered nurses with an Ohio license, and IBCLC certification is preferred; if not certified, attainment within one year is expected.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of Registered Nursing.
• Current Ohio RN license; maintain mandatory educational requirements.
• Cert ification as lactation consultant preferred; Attain IBCLC within one year of hire if not certified.
• Prior nursing experience in a relevant healthcare setting and patient education experience desired.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, manage, coordinate, and evaluate breast feeding education for patients and their families.
• Collaborate with the patient care team and other health care professionals to provide education.
• Plan, direct, and evaluate breastfeeding education for the Department of Women’s and Infants Nursing.
• Engage in ongoing community education and agency collaboration.
• Support patients across the perinatal continuum with evidence-based lactation care.
